But there's a lot of things that that religious upbringing did for me. I literally studied the Bible and other scriptures from early childhood through high school. So now whenever anything related to the great book comes up on Jeopardy, I kick the boyfriend's butt. (He's still got me when sports and hair metal come up, though.)
It also made my family get really into the show Touched By An Angel. It ran in the 90s and was ridiculously cheesy, but we loved it. I think I cried every week. Roma Downey played an angel-in-training.
And now Roma Downey's playing mother Mary and doing a bunch of other stuff (like producing) in conjunction with the History channel to make the miniseries The Bible, which will start airing March 3, 2013. (Easter's so early this year....the 30th!) I'm excited because I have nostalgic ties to the actress, but also because I know the cheese factor won't be too high because it'll be on the History channel.
Here's something fun: a giveaway from Femme Frugality (working with the History Channel!) If you're like me, you don't have all the fancy cable stations anymore in a effort to save money. So if you want to watch this you have two options:
- find a friend who isn't as frugal with their cable bill as you are
- buy the miniseries when it comes out in stores April 2
If you're leaning towards the second option, this could help. Use the Rafflecopter box below to enter for you chance(s) to win a $15 Walmart discount card that can be used to offset the cost of either the DVD or Blu Ray version of the series. There's a few entries you can only earn by using the widget above! Good luck to all!
I'd like to see the birth of Christ depicted.

ReplyDeleteFun fact: I've been to the field where David stoned Goliath. Israel is mind-blowing. Ah, those were the good ol' days when I could afford to travel. This series sounds interesting though. I will have to check it out.
ReplyDeleteNo way! That is too amazing. Israel would be such an interesting place to visit.
